Do you wake up with a song on your mind?

January 14, 2025      Cheri

“Heartbreaks and promises, I have more than my share” have been the words playing in my mind over and over for the past week. I wake up singing these words in my head. This song is one of my jam’s that I love to dance to from the 90’s “Show Me Love” by Robin S and it’s on been on repeat in my head throughout the day for like 5 days. Like someone nagging you for attention! Have you ever woken up with song playing in your head?

What I mean, is this isn’t happening because I heard this song recently or maybe I did but I haven’t consciously played it or heard it recently. It’s not like when you hear an annoying song/tune and its stuck in your head so annoyingly – like for me, it’s that “baby shark” song! No, not like that. You see, I have had this “song” thing happen to me for as long as I can remember. Like dreaming, I have remembered my dreams all the way back through my childhood. Same with this song in my head thing. Often when I wake up in the mornings there is a song, a random song playing in my head. And they have been songs of from all genre’s – sometimes rock, pop, country, old hymns, etc. I didn’t pay too much attention except to note the song and wondered how or why did that particular song show up? – like songs that I know but don’t necessarily like or listen to, ever. Eventually, as my day progressed they would sometimes fade but later on when I was quiet, it would come back or still be there. Similar to waking up from a dream and there is one part that is so vivid or feeling so real from the dream that it just stays with you all day.

I decided, to treat this “song in my head” situation similar to interpreting a dream or part of dream remembered that plays over and over? Maybe, like a remembered dream, the words of the song is my subconscious trying to convey something to me – maybe important, maybe not. Either way, by figuring it out, it could stop the repetitive tune that is driving me nuts!

Here’s the break down of my interpretation:

Title of Song: Show Me Love = show myself more love, life needs to show me some love,

Repeated words: heartbreak and promises I have had more than my share = definitely true, just taken at face value. Heartbreaks over broken relationships, job loss, death of loved ones… promises broken (yep from others and to myself).

Current happening in my daily life: I have been listening to a dear friend lamenting about her dating life, her relationship status and her online dating experiences. I offer my advice and tell many of my past dating/relationship stories too. (memories of my past heartbreaks and promises)

An obvious interpretation would be romantically driven due to the actual meaning of the song. However, the words and their meaning are what I am focusing on – “heartbreaks and promises I have had more than my share” how have I broken my own heart and promises to myself? I have recently been thinking on some goals and dreams and letting go of old worn out dreams and goals that didn’t come to fruition. Some I have changed my mind on because I have outgrown them. My subconscious feelings of breaking my own heart/promises over unfulfilled dreams.

Conclusion: Either it’s my empathy for my young friends dating/relationship dilemma and or its me reflecting deeper at my own heartbreaks and broken promises. I am maybe asking life to Show me love by not beating up on myself for the past heartbreaks and broken promises that I cannot change or have no control over.

Dreaming about Teeth Falling out?

November 19, 2024      Cheri

Dreaming about your teeth falling out, or missing a tooth or several teeth is a common theme that very basically indicates you are experiencing stress and anxiety. The meaning of your dream depends on many factors in the dream such as your feelings/emotions, where is the dream happening, is anyone in the dream with you (who), when is it happening in the dream (are you younger, older).

Spiritually, this dream can mean you are experiencing; trauma and or abuse presently or past memories, loss of a loved one – family, friends, pets, losing/lost your job, loss of wisdom, loss of your youth, misfortune, not taking proper care of yourself, a debt that you need to pay, overall something is not right/good.

Dream meanings of teeth in general:

1.) Teeth in general represent assimilation of knowledge and our ability to assimilate knowledge. They also represent our personal power, assertiveness, and/or aggressiveness; “baring our teeth/showing your teeth” (aggressiveness), “bite into something”(taking something on), “take a bite” (temptation, trying something), “chew on this” (to digest and discern an idea). Dreams of teeth missing, loose, losing, falling out or being pulled can indicate you feel loss of control in a situation, or you have “bitten off more than you can chew” (taking on too much and are overwhelmed). Can also mean you have a “loss of words” or are “speechless” regarding a situation.

2.) Loosing your teeth can indicate that you feel shame and or embarrassment. A loss of self confidence. Our teeth are so important to our physical outward appearance and our smile and when you dream of losing your teeth or they have fallen out what are your feelings about this? Normally, horrified right?! But then past that ask yourself what is the next feeling or thought when you wake up? Were you embarrassed in the dream? Were you sad? Losing our teeth happens when we get older so another meaning can be loss of youth and appearance as we age.

3.) Biblical meaning of teeth is wisdom and the ability to assimilate the “meat of The Word”. Teeth falling out basically indicates that you lack wisdom and are trying to figure it out alone, trying to solve a problem or handle a situation yourself – you are trusting in yourself and not trusting God. You have lack of faith and hope which are both lovingly provided to you by God. Open your Bible and start with James 1:5 ” If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of Elohim, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it shall be given to him.”

4.) Tooth can be a play on the word Truth – our speech, communication. A tooth or several teeth falling out one at a time or several at a time can mean you something you said just fell out of your mouth and you are regretting it. If you dream of your teeth rotting, that can mean hidden guilt and shame of things said or done.

This dream is a call to action to “wake up” and deal with your stress and or anxiety in a constructive and healthy way. Address the problem instead of pushing it back or you will keep having these types of dreams! By pinpointing the “what is bothering you” i.e. your health, a personal situation/relationship, work/job challenge or are you experiencing a loss of some type? Consider the power of prayer and giving it to God. He is the ultimate Healer. And speaking to someone i.e. friend, counselor or therapist (especially with help to heal grief/loss/abuse/trauma). Once you acknowledge the issue and getting the help you need can lead to transformative positive growth.

Dreaming of Dead; Do They Really Visit Us In Our Dreams?

October 30, 2024      Cheri

Have you had a dream of a loved one or pet that has died and come to visit you in your dreams? This type dream is categorized as a “supernatural”. Supernatural dreams involve unexplained phenomena like spirits, after life visits, ghosts, angels, demons and alien encounters. The meaning behind dreaming of a loved one who has come to visit in your dreams is your subconscious mind searching for closure, comfort, guidance, perhaps from that person/pet. Maybe a particular date is coming up (like their birthday, holidays or death day) or you maybe pondering life and death about where do we go when we die? Or you are in the grieving process. These dreams can also also be caused by feelings of guilt over something to do with the visitor or a time when the visitor was alive. These dreams prompt us to look further into the meaning behind the visit of this particular loved one. Sometimes the ‘visit’ isn’t pleasant and can be scary or disturbing which could mean you have unresolved feelings/emotions regarding your past – not necessarily with that person but a time when that person was around.

Dreaming of seeing someone dead alive and well in your dream can be comforting or can be sad and leave you longing for more of them. I can speak of this type of dream from personal experience and also from the truth I have come overtime to understand that has brought me peace. I share this information with you in hope that it helps you resolve or come to peace with your dreams of the dead.

About 25 years ago, I unexpectedly got a phone call that, in an instant changed my whole world; close friend had a car accident and died. I was devastated and I grieved beyond the point of sanity. For years and years afterward he was “visiting” me in my dreams almost nightly, alive and well. So much so that during the day or my waking hours I thought perhaps he faked his death and I would try looking for him. (like I said grief beyond sanity). Most of those dreams were so comforting and joyous that all I wanted to do is go to sleep so I could be with him again.

Was this him visiting me in my dreams?
I believed and felt that this was really him coming to see me from the spiritual world and communicating with me. He looked always like he did when he was alive, not damaged from a car accident or anything. I know the feelings of wanting so badly to know that they are visiting us and that all is well or that they come to give us some message. Just to hear, see, touch, smell the person or pet again is so comforting. There’s a song by that puts into words what I feel when I dream of my passed loved ones; Diamond Rio called “One More Day” and when I heard that for the first time it just hit hard and still does whenever I hear it.

In one of my favorite movies about death and grief “What Dreams May Come” with the late Robin Williams, there is a scene where his wife is at his grave and he comes in spirit and touches her on the shoulder but then she starts to wail in pain. His spirit guide played by Cuba Gooding, jr. tells him no don’t stay it only makes it worse for her to go on living.
I feel like that about dream “visitations” from our loved ones – sometimes it makes the pain more intense and all it leaves is wanting more of them and having them back filling the huge void their death has left in our lives.

For many years following my friends death I dreamed of him still being alive – I mean 15 years later I was still having dreams albeit sporadically that he was alive and living on earth. Also since that time, I have lost other friends and family members such as my grandmother and my dad two closest to me and I have yet to dream of my dad and he’s been gone almost 3 years. My grandmother has been gone for 6 years and I have had a few dreams with her as part of the dream – alive and well. Other dear friends who have also departed, I have had maybe one or two dreams regarding them. The big difference was with all but one (that first one mentioned) I didn’t have any unresolved feelings/situations, while sad and heartbroken with each one, I have grieved and accepted the harsh reality of going forward with the loss woven into who I am and into my daily life.

The second hardest loss I experienced about 8 years ago was losing my “soul” dog. I was with him the day he was born and I was with him, laying next to him 13 years later on the day he died. Oh how my heart ached and I grieved for weeks. I still miss him today. But, I don’t recall having any dreams of him “visiting” me. I remember thinking why won’t he come see me? And while grieving deeply for him I was at peace with knowing he was no longer in pain. And that I had 13 wonderful years with him. Psalm 34:18 The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.

I know they are not visiting me from beyond, coming down and entering my space here. They are gone Psalm 146:4 When his last breath departs, he returns to the earth; on that very day his plans perish. Dreaming of the dead is our subconscious minds way of handling the emotional turmoil that goes with losing loved ones or can be a comforting reminder of them. The truth is they are alive and well in our hearts and minds always – we can pull up our memories and there they are smiling and laughing with us in that particular time and space. Nothing or no one can take those memories away.

Anxiety Dreams Top Symbols & Themes

April 9, 2020      Cheri

Lately, I have noticed an uptick on articles on various news sites about people having lots of anxiety dreams – due to our nation and most of the world on “quarantine shelter in place” mode. This did not surprise me as I have had one or two myself. Basically, our world; work, social and our private lives have been turned upside down and so it is natural that one’s dreams would reflect such. Below, I have listed some of the most common anxiety dream themes and or symbolism to help you understand your own dreams better.

Anxiety Dream Symbols and Themes:

1.) Falling: Overall a dream of falling is a feeling of insecurity in an area of your life; job loss, relationship loss, financial loss. A dream of falling indicates you are in a feeling panic about a situation you cannot control. It can also mean you are in a situation that you are heading for a fall or about to hit rock bottom.

2.) Being Chased in a dream is indication that you are running from a situation or avoiding a situation/problem.

3.) Losing Teeth, falling out teeth, pulling teeth: Teeth in general represent our power, assertiveness and our ability to “sink your teeth” into something, “chew” on something. In general, airports in dreams symbolize aspirations, goals, going places. So if you miss your plane, can’t find your gate or the airport is empty this is an anxiety dream about your aspirations unfulfilled and possible missed opportunities.

7.) Feeling Trapped or being caught: To dream you are trapped in room, in an actual animal trap, is a dream of being “caught” up in a situation you see no way out.

8) Forgetting your pet: to care for or that you have one: Fear of something happening to one or something that is loved. It is a feeling of panic, or horror that you made decision that led to hurt something you love.

9.) Bugs/Insects: Bugs all over you or seeing bugs can indicate something is really bugging you, you have a bug, bugging out.

10.) Dirty, muddy water: Water is emotional state of mind and muddy or dirty water is a symbol of negative or sad thinking/feeling. Not thinking clearly about a situation.
