What were you wearing in your dreams last night?

Did you know that clothing and what we wear during our nighttime journeys is an
important key to understanding the whole message of the dream?

The clothes we wear or don’t wear in our dreams represents our ideas of how we look to others, our outward appearance like our attitudes, emotions true or “put on”, and ideas. The outfits can represent your style, fashion and your self-esteem.

For me, I often remember what I am wearing in my dreams, the colors, fabric, and fit, designer and maybe that is because I love fashion and clothing. After all I
have been in the fashion business for many years now, as my other career! But I find it very helpful to understanding my dream message by starting with what I am wearing in the dream. Was I wearing something I normally wear? Was it colorful? Were my clothes dirty or clean? Were they beautiful and expensive? Or was I wearing something inappropriate or out of place, like pajamas at work?

Here are a few dream interpretations of fashion and what we wear or don’t wear in our nightime journeys:

Beautiful, Expensive, Designer Clothing: a beautiful attitude, love, luxury, kindness, graciousness. Also indicates your level of self-worth and pay attention to the designer or brand you are wearing because those brands carry their own energy and attitude. For example: If I am wearing a beautiful Chanel gown I know what the brand Chanel means to me so that is added personal dream interpretation.

Weird or Strange clothes: Like a clown suit at a business meeting. This would indicate that you feel ridiculous in this situation or you have a funny attitude about the situation.

Favorite Clothing: This is your familiar comfortable ideas and beliefs, known and suitable.

Clothes that don’t fit: An attitude that doesn’t fit with your overall life and beliefs presently. Or something that is not suitable for you.

Too Big: Could indicate you need to “grow into” this attitude, lifestyle, if you happen to like the outfit. If you don’t like the outfit then the idea is not for you. Let it go.

Too Small: This could mean that you have outgrown this attitude or lifestyle, or ideas. That you need to find “your size” that fits you just right.

I would love to hear what you are wearing in your dreams. Share with me your thoughts on your dream outfits.

I will go further on this subject in my next post.

Until then, I wish you many blessings and
chic Dreams.

Cheri Lee

There is much discussion in the scientific world as to whether or not we dream in color or in black and white. I have read that some scientists believe that about 80% of our dreams are in color while others say it is biologically impossible to dream in black and white. On a purely psychic level and not so “scientific” meaning of colors comes from clairvoyants. A clairvoyant is someone who can see peoples aura’s (energy surronding us) say that a subjects mood or feeling are a resultant color. i.e. “green with envy or jealousy” “seeing red” or “having the blues” etc.

Colors in dreams as in life also have different meanings with respect to our personal feelings, experiences and likes or dislikes of a particular color. For example in general the colors black , dark grey or browns are said to depress people who wear these colors or are surrounded by them. But for me personally being a fashionista those colors are fabulous and when I wear black I feel powerful, in-style and confident. When I wear brown I notice I am in a more down to earth mood. I have worked in the fashion industry for years and any woman in fashion knows the little black dress (thank you Coco Chanel) is a must for all of us! And far from depressing! But let me not get into fashion here - that is a whole other blog! I simply wanted to point out how colors have personal meaning too. The color meanings listed below are general meanings. As I always point out go with your gut or intuitive reaction to the color when interpreting it in your dream.

Black: dark and mysterious, death, mourning or hate if accompanied with feelings of fear. Can also be uncertainty. If you have positive emotions in your dream with the color black it can hint to unmanifested spiritual gifts or qualities

Blue: Truth, Wisdom, calmness, tranquility, devotion (true blue)

Brown: Practical, down to earth, earthy as in nature

Green: healthy, growth, goodness, peace, healing/healer, learning

Gray: depression, fear, illness and undefined or not clear, i.e. the gray area or it’s not black or white its gray meaning not this or that but something in the middle.

Purple: Royalty, healing abilities, spiritual oneness with God, spiritual powers, success, psychic abilities

Orange: Friendly, out going, social, energy, happy.

Pink: Love, affection, kindness, softness, lack of fear

Red: Pure, raw energy, action, power to love or hate or conquer, controlling, agressive

White: Purity, clean, fresh, perfection, holiness

Yellow: Intelligence, happy, new beginnings

Pastel colors are hues of the primary colors and indicate an immaturity or weakness in the area of the particular color.

May you have wonderful colorful dreams tonight.

Your bedroom is the temple where one of the most interesting and magical processes of the human condition takes place: sleep. Our modern day bedrooms are multipurpose and not just for sleeping and incubating dreams. At night it is the room where we sleep, watch t.v., read, make love, study, and various other activities. Our bedrooms welcome us to get cozy and comfortable at the end of long day. It calls to us to come, relax, unwind and wraps us in a blanket of a security as we say goodnight and drift off to sleep. In the morning, our bedrooms look different as the sunlight brightens the rooms and it seems to say to us “Good Morning this is a new day full of promise and hope.”

Sleep and dreams are two areas where science has yet to fully understand or explain their mysteries. For centuries sleep and dreams have held their place in folklore, magick and wives tales, old fears and beliefs that continue today. For example: don’t sleep in strange places, don’t sleep with your head pointing south, don’t eat spicey foods before sleep…etc. As for dreams and the mystery they hold much is revealed to a wise interpreter. Today, many still use techniques derived from ancient religions and or magic to encourage restful sleep and to reveal messages from dreams.

The Bedroom:

The best bedroom is a room that is spacious enough to move about freely, a great bed, soft lighting and decorated with colors that promote peace, rest and tranquility. Great bedroom colors are soft or pastel blues, greys, greens, creams, earth tones and white. Furniture that is comfortable. Of all the rooms in your home, the bedroom is the one place that when you walk into it all you can say is “ahhhh!” I’m home, I’m safe, I’m relaxed and at peace. As my grandmother always says when she goes to bed, it’s time to shut the world out.

Beds:

There are so many wonderful beds to choose today. This is not about telling you what mattress to buy although I recommend you try several and be sure to get the best one for you and your body to ensure restful and blissful sleep. A few fun bed/mattress facts for you are: In the past, 100 plus years ago mattresses were made of feathers and were thought to be effective protection against lightning strikes, so people would lay on their beds during thunderstorms. Also, different types of feathers were used; partridge feathers were thought to prevent disease, pigeon feathers caused sleepless nights and dove feathers were considered unlucky. Prior to feathers, grass and plants were used in bedding. I am so grateful to be born in modern times!

Sleeping Positions:

There are traditional sleeping positions that many cultures and spiritual practices believe are better than others for the energy of your life. Sleeping with your head pointing:

North: Promotes stability, calmness, prosperity and healing. The North is considered the source of magical power.

South: Not good! Promotes insomnia, illness, weariness.

East: Promotes intelligence, sharp mental powers, freedom of the mind. The East is associated also with religion and spirituality. Because the sun and moon rise in the east and set in the west it is considered the most natural way to sleep as well – head in the east feet toward the west.

West: Promotes love, psychic abilities, spirituality and is the ideal position for those practicing dream magic.

If moving your bed is not practical then using a mirror facing the opposite direction to counter the negative energy. For example, a small mirror hung on the headboard of a bed facing South.

Sweet Dreams.

He lives and His teachings live because of what transpired over Easter weekend.

I think many of us have experienced dark days where we thought that it was the end. And many of us are experiencing some dark days now. Some of us have lost jobs, been downsized from our companies and we feel downsized in our souls. Some of us are going through divorce or the loss of loved one. Others may have debt piled so overwhelming high that it seems hopeless. Or maybe you have been betrayed by a friend or trusted confident and now the one you thought you could trust has just thrown it away? I certainly have experienced many dark days. And there were many, many times that I have been so down and felt so alone that I couldn’t see a possibility that things would ever be better. How many have you been there? And what brought you out of your darkest day? For me it was my faith in God.

My faith and trust in God and focusing on God’s goodness and love keeps me and has kept me going during times I felt that I am being crucified. When I turn my focus to God and shut out all the noise and seemingly endless negativity from the world by going into silence and prayer God is there, always God is there. In this time of silence, I surrender all my problems and hurts to God praying for His guidance and I am calmed. It is then that I hear and feel God telling me the way to keep going, how to reinvent myself, how to meet obligations and to be happy and successful in my life again.

In dreams, God can talk to us easily because our subconscious is open and receptive to receiving information our conscious mind would otherwise question or dismiss. In our dreams we reach the theta state of consciousness. Theta is the state where God and the realm of creation is and we can get there as well in prayer.

On this Good Friday, if you are experiencing a sort of personal crucifiction remind yourself that it is always darkest before the dawn. Go into silence and surrender to God with faith and trust that with God you will arise above it all to be new again. There is life after seeming death.

“Is it not known to all people that the dream is the most usual way that God reveals himself to man?” —- Tertullian

Many Blessings and Sweet Dreams.

For the past 20 plus years that I have been interpreting my dreams and dreams for others I have met some people who have no interest or desire to understand the value in interpreting their dreams. In all my studying and gathering of information from many great scholars and dream analysts such as Carl Jung, Sigmund Freud and Robert Moss etc. there are many things about dreams that are still unanswered such as: Where do our dreams come from?, Why do we dream?, Why don’t we dream in our verbal language? I do not want to go into debate and discussion about those things which I still have not found valid answers to for my own belief. I want to stay on the subject of why I believe dreams need to be interpreted.

There has yet to be scientific discovery in regards to meaning and feeling that proves or disproves theories on whether or not a dream has a message or that its intention is to have meaning to the dreamer. We don’t know how images are made in our dreams or the stories the images tell us. Where are they from? Do they come from God, the soul, the mind, unconscious or a bunch of neurological firings?

What I do know and what I believe is that a dream once it has been “figured” out by the dreamer can enhance the dreamer’s knowledge of themselves or solve a problem, change a habit, and inspire.

Here are a few comments I have received on dreams and dream interpretation:

“I don’t dream or I don’t dream much”

There are some people who do not dream according to a few scientists and doctors. These people seem to skip through the REM or rapid eye movement stage which is the dreaming stage of the sleep cycle. Other doctors and scientists say they really can’t prove if everyone dreams or not. So, when someone responds with I don’t dream I am usually intrigued and also a bit sad for them because I think our ability to dream is really a wonderful thing.

“Dreams don’t have any meaning to them”

Actually, they do. There is a plethora of research that shows how our dreams reflect our waking concerns, problems and help us cope with stress, solve problems and even inspire ideas in us. I usually recommend that if they would just try a few weeks of interpreting and understanding their dreams they will see the meaningfulness of at least one dream.

“How do I figure out what it means when there are no words? Why can’t dreams just be like a letter instead of a bunch of pictures?

It would be nice if when we go to sleep a letter would appear saying Dear SuzyQ, Hi here is a message for you…..But that is not how it works. Dreams speak to us in our first language and that is one of images, symbols and things we see not necessarily a bunch of letters that arrange a word meaning to the image. There are basic meanings to common symbols but then there are other things that have different meanings to us by what they symbolize and our experience, culture, age, with said symbol or thing. Also, it has been said that dreams are more direct when we are in a state of emotional openness or dire situation.

I say the reason’s to interpret your dreams are: to know your self better, solve problems, stop bad habits, help you cope with stress, and be inspired to write the next best seller, new invention, cure a disease, make more money and be happier. And lastly, because dreams are an amazing gift to us wherever or whomever they come from.

Sweet Dreams, Big Dreams.

All of us at one time or another experience stress in our lives. Times right now are stressful with the state of our nations economy, high unemployment rate and the holidays upon us can cause stress for many. When we are stressed out we have dreams that reflect our state of mind, consciously and subconsiously. Sometimes the subconsious mind will create an escape dream that is kind and warm for you to get some relief from your daily worrying. But mostly when stressed our dreams will be filled with darkness, sadness and frustrating actions and if not paid attention to the dreams will turn to nightmares.

Stress or worrying can be described as “going around and around” a problem without coming to a solution to the problem. This kind of thinking can rob you of precious sleep.

One way of dealing with stressful times in our life is to get out and exercise. Daily brisk walks, a trip to the gym or dancing or something that lets you “blow off” the extra steam. In addition, when you are about to go to sleep make a deal with yourself to “put away” the problem for the night so you can sleep restfully. Or you can request an answer or insight to handling your “problem” then “sleep on it” and expect an answer when you wake up.

Program yourself to deal with your problems instead of evading them in hopes of them just going away without you facing them. This is where working with your dreams can really help. Journaling helps relieve alot stress just by getting your thoughts out on paper. You can also write down a question in your dream journal and expect an answer or insight in the morning. Remembering to record your dreams (no matter how crazy they seem upon waking,) is important, there is a message or a lead to getting to the root of the problem.

One last note, consider this, stress is caused by our personal interpretation of reality and our expectations of how things should be. By opening ourselves up and accepting things as they are and then looking at them from a non-emotional stance, even for a few moments can bring clarity and insight to handling the situation.

Many blessings and Sweet dreams.
